In this 360° panorama, you can look around the council chamber at Het Klavier in Kaatsheuvel. This is where the municipal council of Loon op Zand meets to discuss issues that matter to the municipality and its residents.
The council chamber is located in Het Klavier, on Anton Pieckplein in the centre of Kaatsheuvel. Het Klavier is a multifunctional building that brings together a range of different facilities. In addition to the municipal offices, it houses cultural and community amenities, including a library, hospitality venues and a theatre. The building is therefore not just a place where the municipality carries out its work, but also a meeting place for residents of Kaatsheuvel and the other towns and villages within the municipality of Loon op Zand.
The municipal council represents the residents of the municipality. Councillors discuss proposals and plans and make decisions on local policies. These may concern housing developments, traffic, public amenities, public spaces or municipal finances.
A council meeting consists of several different parts. Councillors discuss proposals, ask questions of the municipal executive and put forward their views before voting on a proposal. Residents can also exercise their right to speak at certain meetings and address the council directly. Meetings in the council chamber at Het Klavier are open to the public. Well-publicised or controversial topics can draw a full audience, but, as you can see in this photograph, only a few people are seated in the public gallery.
Several distinctive features can be found in the council chamber. The municipality's three main settlements — Kaatsheuvel, Loon op Zand and De Moer — are symbolically represented by three circular light fixtures. Another striking feature is the wooden wall, which now provides a new home for *De scheppende hand Gods* (*The Creative Hand of God*), a 1968 artwork by Marius de Leeuw. This creates a connection between the municipality's past and present within the interior.
With this interactive 360° panorama, you can explore the council chamber at Het Klavier for yourself. Take a look at the seating arrangement, the interior and the various details throughout the room.
This panoramic photograph therefore offers more than just a view of a distinctive space in Kaatsheuvel. It also gives you a glimpse of the place where local democracy in the municipality of Loon op Zand takes shape.
