Born an raised in 1978, in the Heart of Midden-Brabant: Waalwijk. A small town in The Netherlands.
When I was a small boy, I joined my father visiting airshows. He phootgraphed and all I did was watch. It was there where the photography-virus started. It was not until 2005 when I bought my first camera.
In the beginning it was pure for fun at airshows and races. After a while I found out it was a very fun hobby and that I wanted to explore more.
So I started experimenting to find out what was the nicest thing in photography. And it turned out to be sports. In the beginning I tried all kinds of sports, but I ended up in football. It's not only the sport that is the most popular in The Netherlands , but in my eyes it's also a sport that shows everything. Think about the action, tension and emotions. Things I care about in my photography. I think you must show a photo that makes a viewer regret that he couldn't be there at the time.
In 2010 I became a full-time photographerr. On the one side I worked as a technical photographer providing images for crash-testing and besides that a lot of football for a press agency. As a freelancer it became more difficult to keep a good earning considering the time it consumed and I had to make a choice. I deceided to give up football.
The gap of time that was created was filled with photographing models. Not from a commercial point of view but merely from passion, pleusure and creativity.
In 2012 I had the oppurtenity to work for Persbureau Van Eijndhoven in Tilburg. Mostly for newspapers like Brabants Dagblad and De Telegraaf. Journalism is a very interesting genre. Very divers. Except the news, there was also a lot of sports to be photographed. Not only football but also a lot of other sports like icehockey and athletics.
But working in a unique envirement kept pulling. After photographing journalism for almost 5 years I went back to the researchfacility. Photographing car-crashes with high-speed camera's. Technical stuff I loved.
In 2020 I made a new step. Still research-related but this time in construction. Totaly different. I look inside buildings and houses for damage that is allready there and make sure it's documented properly. Something completely different compared to what I've done before. No, it's doesn't offer the creativity I show on my website here, but that doesn't matter. It's always a journey when you enter a building to see what you discover. That, cobined with all the different kind of people you meet. Is what's it about.
My website is not only about the photo's I show. I also think it's important to help other people. Phootgraphy is a great medium to show people what you see, and the way you see it. And since the digital age, everybody can easyly take a photo. But to help people I wrote a nuber of articles. Filled with tips about how you can photograph football yourself for instance. Or a simplified explanation of the basics of photography.
